Description

This painting started out as a doodle of the background, I got really into detailing those rocks. Gradually, as I went along I added the unicorn, boy and serpent. It is supposed to capture a moment in the battle where the boy has just fallen due to an injury he sustained when driving his sword into the serpent. He was not able to retain his weapon because the icy blood of said monster caused the metal of the sword to stick inside him.

Very nice. The dragon especially is beautiful.

I'm not so sure about the boy's expression-- perhaps he should be a tad bit more emotional? He looks rather blank. Maybe it's just the size (dial-up doesn't allow me to view the full version)

Very VERY good work on the scalemail only nit pick about it is that I don't see a lightsource which could be justifying his highlighted right chest part. The overall scene is beautiful however I am not so sure about the overall color scheme. It does look a bit oversaturated at places and there is no real reason to do so. Also I am wondering about that black spot floatind about - if it's part of the monsters skin then it's not quite obvious because I can't clearly see its wounds being almost completely black on my screen.

The large version I amazing to look at btw - its a pity so much detail gets lost in smaller version. And I need to stress the scalemail again..stunning work
